Plumbing, Fire Sprinkler and Gas Inspections

The items relevant to Plumbing and Gas Inspections in Bulletin 2008-003-BU Building By-law Amendments for Green Homes (59kb) are:

• Electric Hot Water Tanks to be wrapped in minimum RSI 1.76 (R10) insulation
• Insulate piping from the last 1 m leading to and 3 m leading from the Hot Water Tank with minimum RSI 0.35 (R2)
• Insulation is required on the entire hot water piping network, if the network is a constant recirculation system
• All toilets must now be of dual flush design
• All gas-fuelled fireplaces are required to use electronic ignition and be direct-vented
