Great Beginnings
Great Beginnings was created by the city and funded by provincial government. Over three years from 2008 to 2011, $10 million will be given to celebrate the history, heritage and culture of Vancouver’s first urban areas. Gastown, Chinatown, Japantown and Strathcona
Carrall Street Greenway
The Carrall Street Greenway is a major public realm, community building and economic revitalization initiative. This project is led by the City of Vancouver's Engineering and Planning departments and involves many other departments, including Park Board and the Office of Cultural Affairs.
Chinatown Revitalization Program
The Program began in 1999 as part of the City of Vancouver's Downtown Eastside Revitalization Program. The goal for the project was to bring together community members to address several key issues in the area, such as safety and economic growth through an extensive community engagement and building process.
Four Pillars Coalition
The Four Pillars Coalition works toward a safer city through more comprehensive policing and improved drug treatment.

Located in the heart of the Downtown Eastside, the centre provides
community-based social, cultural, recreational, and educational programs
and activities.

Eastside Women's Centre Association
Provides a safe temporary home for women and children in crisis
in the community. It is also committed to helping them find housing,
employment, and health care.

Non-Profit Housing Association
Represents the interests of the non-profit housing sector to government
and the public. The association participates in housing policy and
program
development with all levels of government.

Eastside Youth Activities Services
Provides youth and adults in the Downtown Eastside with emotional,
social, and economic support through its programs.

A program that provides youth with skills, training and work opportunities.
