Archaeological SitesArchaeological sites are identified by a Site Number which is a classification system used by archaeologists throughout Canada. The second column notes a two letter code for the local area that corresponds to the location of the archaeological site on the local area map. The final column indicates the type of archaeological site. In order to protect the archaeological sites, their specific location is not indicated in this Register. However, any development affecting these sites is noted by the City's Permits and Licenses Department during the development/ building permit application process, at which time the Provincial Heritage Conservation Branch and the applicant are notified. Additional Information on archaeological sites is available from the Provincial Government at: http://srmwww.gov.bc.ca/arch/index.html
