City of Vancouver Book Award

General Information - Eligibility and Evaluation Criteria

Eligibility

1. The book may be fiction, non-fiction, poetry, or drama written for adults or children and may explore any aspect of the city such as its history, geography, current affairs, or the arts.
2. The book may be written and/or published anywhere in the world.
3. The book must not have been copyrighted prior to the previous year. Reissues of a prior edition and textbooks are not eligible.

Evaluation

1. The book must contribute significantly to an appreciation and understanding of the city of Vancouver and heighten awareness of one of the following: Vancouver’s history, unique character, and/or the achievements of its residents.
2. The book must exhibit excellence in one or more of the following: content, illustration, design, format.
3. If no book deemed worthy of this award is submitted, the prize will not be awarded that year.
