Dear Mr. Hodges:
It has recently come to my attention that you were instrumental in the restoration of the burial plot of Constable R. G. McBeath.
As you are aware, Constable McBeath was killed in the line of duty on October 9, 1922 and was laid to rest in the Mountain View Cemetery. His memory will be immortalized in the small village of Kinlochbervie, Scotland during a special ceremony that will be held in his honour on September 12, 2009, 87 years after his death. We are very proud to be able to send pictures of the newly restored headstone and gravesite to the citizens of Kinlochbervie to show them one of several ways that Constable McBeath's memory has been preserved here in Canada.
On behalf of the Vancouver Police Department, please accept my sincere thanks for your generosity in covering the costs of the cleaning of the gravestone and clearing of the curbing that surrounds the burial plot. We sincerely appreciate the dignity and respect that you have restored to the final resting place of this exceptional man, outstanding police officer and valiant war hero.
Yours truly,
Jim Chu
Chief Constable

Hello,
I wanted to write to thank you for all of the recent projects and
improvements to Mountain View Cemetery. The crocus and daffodil
meadow, the new avenue of deciduous trees in the mid section of the
cemetery, the office/service building, and the war memorial projects
and plantings are all wonderful additions.
It is so rewarding to see all of these new projects and ideas
enhancing what is already an extremely special place and an integral
part of our community.
Thank you,
Kirsty Robbins
