Research and Reports

Background Council Reports and Direction

    • In 2007, Council approved the Metro Core Jobs and Economy Land Use Plan: Issues and Directions Report PDF(1.25mb) and asked staff to prioritise job space—retail, office, hotel and industrial uses—in Central Broadway. More specifically, staff were directed to examine commercial intensification in the Uptown Office District (between Oak and Yukon Streets) and mixed-use commercial hubs at Granville and Main.
    • As part of a review of heritage density policies PDF(88kb) in 2009, Council asked staff to establish targets for landing more transferable density in the city, including Central Broadway. Transfer of density is allowed to and from Central Broadway C-3A areas located west of Main Street and east of Burrard Street
