East Vancouver Port Lands

Background and Mission Statement

The City of Vancouver, the Burrardview Neighbourhood Association, and Port Metro Vancouver (PMV) have been working together as partners to create a plan for the East Vancouver Port Lands (EVPL).

The EVPL occupies the eastern portion of the PMV lands on Burrard Inlet within the City of Vancouver. As a working port, the area is primarily industrial and includes major rail and road corridors to service these uses. Immediately adjacent is the Burrardview neighbourhood, with single family homes enjoying views of the Burrard Inlet and North Shore, but also experiencing impacts from adjacent Port operations. This unique circumstance creates many challenges in ensuring both port and residential needs are respected and impacts addressed.

The EVPL Plan Mission Statement

The East Vancouver Port Lands will support a thriving port and residential community where:

  • Port Metro Vancouver, port industries, the City of Vancouver and the community work collaboratively to resolve issues;
  • a balance exists between the business interests of the Port and the livability needs of the adjacent residential community; and
  • a range of port activities exist that meet mutually established planning criteria, and mitigation techniques are employed to minimize the individual and cumulative impacts of port actiivties on the adjacent residential community.
