EcoDensity

Q. How does the EcoDensity Program affect Norquay Village?
A. The EcoDensity program is separate from the Neighbourhood Centres program currently underway in Norquay Village as described below:
- Neighbourhood Centres Program:
- Based on City Plan and Community Visions, initiated in 1995.
- Involves a local area planning process looking to encourage a neighbourhood heart or centre, building on existing character and specific needs of the community
- EcoDensity Program:
- Launched in 2006. Council adopted the EcoDensity Charter in 2008.
- An extensive public process involved a city-wide public dialogue about how the City can encourage sustainability, liveability and affordability through strategically-located and well-designed density and other related actions.
- The Charter does not suggest changes to Neighbourhood Centre planning.
- The Charter commits to follow through on existing plans and policies, such as the Neighbourhood Centres Program, that improve sustainability, and expand on them to achieve even greater gains.
