» WEMAC - Community Priorities for the West End: Interim Report to mayor Gregor Robertson: July 20, 2011. PDF

Who is WEMAC and why is this important if you live or operate a business in the West End?

With the highest population and density of all of the communities in the City of Vancouver, the West End is an incredibly diverse and exciting area for those who live and work here. In July 2010, Council established the West End Mayor's Advisory Committee comprised of the Mayor, two Councilors and 10 individuals from the West End who are broadly representative of the demographics of the West End, as an interim measure to a formal planning process being undertaken for the West End. The Committee is responsible for communicating community priorities to the Mayor, as well as for helping to communicate City policy initiatives that may be of interest to residents in the West End.

What is this survey and why should I bother to complete it?

We have developed this survey based on issues of concern identified in a variety of community engagement processes sponsored by several groups, including the West End Residents Association (WERA), West End Neighbours (WEN), and the City of Vancouver over the past year. In order to carry out the mandate given by City Council, WEMAC is using this survey and a series of community meetings to determine, from all these concerns and aspirations that have been collected, what truly are the ones that westenders feel are most important.

Your contribution is essential to us gaining this understanding. We want to hear from all parts of our community and ask that you take the few minutes required to complete the survey. Your opinions will be a vital contribution to the development of recommendations we will be making to Mayor Robertson. The updated list of community priorities will be given to the Mayor and will provide direction for and help shape the future of our community.

Take the community priorities survey! (Survey closes June 10, 2011)
