Southeast False Creek: Public Involvement
We would like your input to help develop Southeast False Creek. Please read about the some of the issues related to SEFC and email us at sefc@vancouver.ca with any questions or comments. This website will be updated to keep you informed on all SEFC workshops, open houses and project developments. Olympic Village Plaza Open House These were two opportunities to view and comment on the draft conceptual design for the Plaza in Area 2A of Southeast False Creek (SEFC). Saturday, May 24 from noon – 3:00pm Monday, May 26 from 4:00pm – 7:00pm View the newspaper ad ››› ( Sub Area 3C Open House This event was an opportunity for the public to view and comment on proposed changes to the Official Development Plan for Southeast False Creek (SEFC) Sub-Area 3C. The draft amendments would increase the area’s maximum allowed heights, amend the optimum heights, and change the total allowed floor area. City staff were present to answer questions and receive comments.
December 4 and 6, 2007 - SEFC Energy Centre Open Houses The City of Vancouver held two open houses for the public to view and comment on conceptual designs for the SEFC Energy Centre April 17, 2007 - Neighbourhood Energy Utility Heat Source Decision On April 17, 2007, City Council received a staff report confirming that the City will pursue sewer heat recovery as the heat source for Phase 1 of the Olympic Village and Southeast False Creek (SEFC) development. April 12 and 14, 2007 - SEFC Parks and Planning Updates Open Houses The City of Vancouver held two open houses for the public to view and comment on the waterfront Community and Boating Centre, park design, and a form of development (height increase) amendment in Area 2A of Southeast False Creek (SEFC). March 13 and 15, 2007 - Neighbourhood Energy Utility Open Houses There were Neighbourhood Energy Utility open houses for SEFC which included information on heat source options (biomass and sewer heat recovery) for the site. [top] Public Open Houses - Rezoning Applications Throughout 2006, the City of Vancouver hosted public open houses presenting information and providing opportunities to discuss and comment on various rezoning applications Southeast False Creek. September 28, 2006 - Public Open House - Rezoning Application (1695 Main Street) August 2, 19, 23, and, 2006 - Public Open Houses - Rezoning Application (Sub Area 2A) April 29 and May 1, 2006 - Public Open Houses - Rezoning Applications (various sites) March 13, 2006 - Public Open House - Proposed Rezoning (102 – 160 West 1st Avenue) Public Open Houses March 22 and 25, 2006 - Public Open Houses - Public Realm February 22, 2006 - Public Information Session [top] October 2005 - Public Information Session This was an opportunity for the public to see the progress with regards to parks planning, the Olympic Athletes’ Village, and the public lands infrastructure design including the energy system, stormwater management, streetscape and waterfront design. View the display materials ››› [top] October 2004 - Public Consultation In October of 2004, the Planning Department held the third phase of Public Consultation to seek the public’s comments on the October 2004 Urban Design Framework prepared by the SEFC Design Team (consisting of Hotson Bakker Boniface Haden Architects, VIA Architecture, Stantec Architecture, and PWL Partnership Landscape Architects). February 2004 - Public Consultation The Planning Department held two public open houses in February in order to present changes made to the preliminary SEFC ODP proposal and receive comments on the revised proposal (submitted in February 2004 by VIA Architecture). This SEFC Newsletter ( 2003 Public Consultation On July 19, 2003, the SEFC Planning Team concluded the first round of public consultation with a “Wrap Up” open house at the False Creek Community Centre. At this open house, staff presented the input received from the public at the major public events since May 2003. These summaries are available for your information below.
