October 5, 2007City receives mediator’s recommendations
Mediator Brian Foley has today delivered his non-binding recommendations to the City of Vancouver and to CUPE Locals 15, 1004 and 391. CUPE locals have agreed to submit those recommendations to a vote by their membership early next week. If the recommendations are accepted by the unions, they will go the Metro Vancouver Labour Relations Bureau, Vancouver City Council and the Vancouver Public Library Board for review and ratification in special in-camera meetings. It is expected that voting will be concluded on Wednesday, October 10, 2007. Should the recommendations be acceptable to all parties, city workers will return to work and affected services will be restored as quickly as possible. A schedule outlining the timeline for the full resumption of services will be provided through the media and the city’s website at vancouver.ca
