Water Main Cleaning in Vancouver As part of ongoing maintenance, the City will clean water mains in a large area of Vancouver (shaded areas on map) between Monday, September 26 and Friday, December 2, 2011. Flushing water mains is necessary to remove sediment that gradually deposits in the pipes. Cleaning will take place from 7 am to 3 pm for most neighbourhoods. There may be brief periods when your water becomes cloudy or discoloured and has a mild chlorine taste. This does not pose a health hazard. Also, there may be temporary pressure fluctuations during flushing. City staff will try to minimize any inconvenience. For more information: 3-1-1
