About Preservation at the Archives

To ensure the historical records will be preserved for future generations, the Archives employs a professional conservator who is responsible for:

providing standards for storage and display
stabilizing deteriorating items and repairing damaged ones
preparing procedures for coping with emergencies

All holdings are kept in environmentally-controlled storage and a laboratory is maintained for carrying out conservation work as required.

The conservator works exclusively on the collections of the Archives. A list of local private conservators is maintained and available for reference; please contact us.
