The Archives holds over 2,000 linear metres of records produced by the civic government which have long-term legal, administrative and historical value. A substantial volume date from Vancouver's incorporation in 1886. Although public records are primarily textual in nature, maps, plans, moving images, audio, and photographs are also represented.
