Searching
- Type desired word in the box.
- If you fill in more than one box, results must meet all criteria.
- Example: Enter the word park in the keyword field, and 1900 in a date field. This will only find those records which contain
the word "park" and are from 1900.
- Press Search.
Finding words and phrases
- Use phrases as desired.
- Please note that terminology changes over time. In order to capture
all entries pertaining to a topic, use all possible synonyms, e.g.,
- garbage / refuse / scavenging / waste
- houseboat / liveaboard / live-a-board
- For the most comprehensive results use the broadest possible term,
i.e. in order not to miss any instances of Maple Street, use Maple.
Use NOT (!) to get rid of irrelevant results, e.g.
- maple ! ridge ! tree ! leaf
- Enter personal names into Keyword(s) box in natural language
form, as well as inverted, to find all records by and about the person,
for example: Abbott, Elizabeth Scott / Elizabeth Scott Abbott / Elizabeth Abbott
