BRITTEN, Patrick C.
Nude Garden Party

We are alive, a wonderful city.  We owe much to many.  We give freedom of person and society, to learn, evolve, work, play, and love; freedom to triumph beyond conceptions in feardom.   Together in truth the road shall not divide.

Vancouver, iterations of providence and practical integrated living design.  Co-operative materialization of habitat social ideals, where appropriate, will illuminate provincial (using pine beetle logs?) and national solutions.   On to global freedom, working tourism, desert reclamation, a galaxy of smarter villages, a network of urban and rural farmers, refugees, the sedentary, and travellers of the world.  Self-sufficiency is bedrock survival, an aerobic civilization optimizing in biomass and diversity maximization to ameliorate the extremes of warming and cooling on the planet and improve its impacts here and there…

I am 62, a healthy recycler businessman, janitor (CEPP loc. 2000) Mitchell Press, ratepayer, green thumb, realized, ecumenical, respectful ecdysiast, mayor?...

HANSEN, Mike

HANSEN, Mike

As mayor of Vancouver I will bring the city into the 21st century.  Dispensing with the title ‘Your Worship’ and retiring the ‘necklace and septre’ to the museum, as symbols and artifacts of the past.  I will swear and “Oath of Allegiance to The Sovereign’s (you the citizens) Interests.  Dedicating my administration the homeless, poor and addicted citizens.  I will implement a lottery that, ‘pays double, so play often’, with all the proceeds going to the DETS Rehabilitation Program.

With gang violence escalating and police displaying ignorance to the growing problem of, “gang insurgents smuggling weapons of mass destruction, guns and drugs into Canada,” We will implement a “Strategic Plan to Serve and Protect,” the citizens.

Tax incentives and permit easements to developers that build or open homeless/low cost housing or rehabilitation centers.

No privatization, visions or dreams.  Focus Vancouver.

HATOUM, Joe

HATOUM, Joe
(Maple Ridge)

Hello fellow CITIZENS, & CANDIDATES;
VANCOUVER is STILL POLLUTING the OCEAN with TOXIC SEWAGE

  • 780 million liters per day!!!

It's NECESSARY TO ADDRESS THIS PROBLEM IMMEDIATELY, for our environment & children's world; something we all should be able to agree on.

I have a diverse scientific background and urge to get this done, which in 1994 Jean Chrétien approved funding for. This calls for responsible use of available federal funding.

Beyond voiced concerns, submissions by citizens, & everything mentioned in my 2005 campaign,

 I support:

  • More great organic COMMUNITY GARDENS.
  • A Free Vancouver Bus & An All-Night SkyTrain run.
  • Healthier food in schools to promote nutritional interest/education.
  • Sanitary streets, alleys, & public water/washrooms.
  • Friendly discussion & hearings between communities and city government.
  • Emergency response plans.
  • SEWAGE TREATMENT, preserving coastal marine environment

Next election's in 2011 so vote wisely.
Thank-you all voters & volunteers!

Jimenez, Angel L.

JIMENEZ, Angel L.

What will I do if I’m elected Mayor in Vancouver

First I will order the Police Board to give accountability to the citizens of Vancouver of their proven abuse of authority.

IF I’M ELECTED MAYOR I WILL ORDER the Vancouver Police Department to open its files of proven cases of misconduct by the members of the force. I will make sure that any corrections or disciplinary actions will include the input of the victims or their family (in case the victims were not longer with us due to the abuse of the police officers).

I will restructure the current office of the Police Complaint Commissioner since in my proven opinion as it is run today it only acts as stamp of approval to most of the Vancouver Police abuses, why not created one Investigation Committee with the City Councilors?

KAPLAN, Leon

KAPLAN, Leon

Hi, I currently own a bookstore, doubling as my campaign headquarters.  On certain nights I perform stand up comedy at pubs.  I was born in Rio, raised in a secular Jewish Family and in 1989 moved to Canada and founded the Storefront Paper.  Since then I’ve been running storefronts – things immigrants with PhDs do.

I host documentaries and youtube clips and I’ve been in many board of directors, including Devout, a space fostering community economic development for DTES individuals.

Lastly, when my campaign says “be afraid, be very afraid”, I mean: we live in turbulent times and must be prepared for an upcoming economic and environmental disaster.

I think that my opponents will try to use unseemly tactics against me saying that a comedian can’t run a public office. Let's prove them wrong.
G-d bless you all, and may G-d bless the City of Vancouver.

KRAWCZYK, Betty

KRAWCZYK, Betty
Work Less Party

I am running for Mayor of Vancouver because I am very worried about the future, both the immediate future and the long term future.  At 80 years old I have been through depressions hurricanes, floods and fires and we may all be facing these again.  I have been fighting the depletion of our B.C. eco-systems for 20 years that resulted in 3 & ½ years in BC prisons for peaceful civil disobedience.  I fight for financial equality for common people, for children’s rights, for elder’s rights, for economic equality and I DON’T BACK DOWN.

YEE, Scott

Like the healthcare system, I want to build a public housing system.  Now imagine you see a green building, using geothermal technology, more environmentally friendly appliances, with a green roof top.  Now imagine you see commercial retail space on the ground level, with social housing units for the homeless on the 1st floor, and apartments for single people, seniors and families on the 2nd floor up.  A 1 bedroom 1,000 sq. apartment would be $500 per month.  A 4 bedroom 2,000-2,500 sq. apartment would be $1,000 dollars per month.  And studio’s 400 sq. or smaller will be built for the homeless.  By doing this, not only will it raise the standard of living for renters, the City of Vancouver will have a new revenue source.  So if 200,000 people rented from the city paying $500 a month in rent, that would equal $100 million per month, $1.2 billion per year.
