Councillor Tony Tang
Tony Tang was first elected to Vancouver City Council in 2011. Tony has a vast array of experience and knowledge when it comes to city issues, particularly on the issue of housing. Twice appointed to the Vancouver Board of Variance to adjudicate appeals regarding zoning and other by-law matters, Tony has served as Chair for the past two years.
Tony is compassionate with a keen interest in fairness. He wants to make Vancouver more affordable for all families, through smart, pragmatic management of land-use planning, city budgets and service delivery.
Tony came to Canada in 1968. He is a long-time Vancouver resident who has been devoted to community service for over 20 years. A professional engineer with a Master’s degree from the University of British Columbia, he also studied art through the Alberta College of Art. Tony has over 22 years of experience working in the home building and construction sector. He served 5 years as a director of the Shaughnessy Heights Property Owners’ Association and has also volunteered for numerous consultation groups including the Quilchena Park upgrade and the rezoning of RS-5 and RS-6 in Vancouver.
Tony lives with his wife and their chocolate lab in the Quilchena neighbourhood, where he has lived for over 18 years.
