City reaches agreement with CUPE 1004

The City of Vancouver is pleased to announce that it has reached a settlement with CUPE 1004.

Members of the local voted last night on the proposed agreement. According to the union, the final tally was 90 per cent support for the contract from Park Board employees and 86 per cent acceptance from the City’s outside employees.

The agreement provides a wage increase of 2, 2, and 3 per cent over three years. Included in the offer is an additional 25 cent premium for qualified trade members.

CUPE 1004 workers are currently picketed out by the 2,800 members of CUPE Local 15 who are still on strike. The services offered by CUPE 1004 are currently unavailable to the public.

CUPE 1004 represents members who are employed in the areas of sanitation, sewer and water, and those who work as truck drivers and equipment operators. The local also includes a large number of employees in the trade categories (e.g., mechanics, machinists, and gardeners).
