
October 1, 2000Clarification on operation of Mountain View Cemetery
Mountain View Cemetery will remain open during the civic strike. As long as there are no picket lines, internment services will continue to be offered. Visitors are welcome from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. and the office will be open from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Other services that will continue to be provided during the CUPE Local 15 strike include: police and fire services, city-operated housing lodges and residences, the City dog pound, health and meal services at the Evelyne Saller Centre, community grant processing, parking enforcement, vendor payments and accounting services and some permit applications. In addition, City Hall will remain open to the public from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m., Monday to Friday.
Services affected by the strike include community centres, new building permit applications, building inspections and business licenses, garbage collection, recycling and landfill services, water and sewage hook-ups, street cleaning and street lighting, theatres, the City of Vancouver Archives, and park maintenance.
CUPE Local 15 represents 2,800 members who work in clerical, administrative, parking enforcement, planning, social planning, community centre, and building maintenance positions.
