City Calls for Cultural Harmony Awards Nominations
The City of Vancouver is now accepting nominations for the fifth annual Cultural Harmony Awards.
The awards recognize outstanding contributions by individuals and organizations in promoting cultural harmony and understanding among Vancouvers diverse communities.
Eligible organizations include non-profit groups or service clubs, educational institutions, hospitals, government departments, unions, professional and trade associations, media organizations, public and private corporations. Nominees must live or work in the City of Vancouver.
An independent jury will choose winners in both the individual and organization categories based on achievement, scope, and impact of achievements, and the way they were accomplished.
The awards are sponsored by the City of Vancouver, The City Councils Special Advisory Committee on Cultural Communities and the Vancouver Board of Parks and Recreation.
Winners will be honoured with a tree planted in their name in the Park Boards Cultural Harmony Grove on September 29, 2000. Recent winners include: Collingwood Neighbourhood House for its programs and commitment to cultural diversity and community harmony; Donna Marie Spencer for her dedication to culturally diverse dance, theatre and visual arts; and Carousel Theatre for its innovative programming addressing cultural diversity issues.
