2000 Ghost Train cancelled
due to civic strikeThe Vancouver Board of Parks & Recreation announced that due to the continuation of the strike by CUPE 15 workers, the Ghost Train in Stanley Park has been cancelled for this year.
"We realize this decision will disappoint many families who were looking forward to attending this years event," noted Susan Mundick, Parks Board general manager. "However, the Board hopes that families will be back in 2001 for this popular attraction."
The Ghost Train is an annual event that features a ride on the Stanley Park Miniature Railway. The train winds its way through the woods, which are decorated in a scary Halloween theme for the occasion.
The ride operates for three weeks in October. Last year approximately 37,000 children of all ages enjoyed this spooky event.
