TV Show Explores Options to Solve Vancouvers Drug Crisis
The Greater.vancouver TV show will air a special episode on the devastating impact that drug use is having on the region.
The drug episode, which explores a variety of initiatives and solutions, will air on:
Rogers Television Cable 4
Wednesday April 26 at 10 a.m. and 9 p.m.
Sunday April 30 at 8 p.m.
The show will also repeat at the same times next week.This episode explores the history of the regions drug problem and looks at how other jurisdictions, particularly European cities, have addressed similar problems. It also examines the "four pillars" approach to solving the drug crisis prevention, enforcement, treatment and harm reduction which is gaining popularity among many policymakers. The show demonstrates the importance of developing a "made in Vancouver solution."
The show features interviews with several European drug experts, Larry Campbell the Chief Coroner, Dr. Perry Kendall the Provincial Health Officer, Terry Blythe the Chief Constable of the Vancouver Police Department, as well as representatives from the Vancouver Area Network of Drug Users, the Portland Hotel Society, and the Vancouver Richmond Health Board.
Greater.vancouver is an award-winning, half-hour newsmagazine show that is co-produced by the City of Vancouver, the GVRD and Rogers Television.
