City Presents Heritage Awards

Mayor Philip Owen last night presented the 21st annual City of Vancouver Heritage Awards.

The Heritage Awards Program acknowledges the efforts of people and organizations that have furthered the goal of heritage conservation in the City.

A total of 15 awards were presented at the gala event, held in the Pacific Ballroom in the Hotel Vancouver. Winners included:

Award of Honour to the Vancouver Heritage Foundation
for the True Colours Program and the first annual Heritage and Antiques Fair

Award of Honour to Allied Hotel Properties
for the restoration of Hotel Georgia ballroom, meeting rooms and main lobby

Award of Recognition to the City of Vancouver
for restoration of the exterior of the Firehall Theatre

Award of Merit to the Vancouver Museum
for the City Lights: Neon in Vancouver display

Award of Merit to the Brewery Creek Historical Society
for the recreation of the Brewery creek-bed.
