City Reminds Residents Parking Enforcement Still in Effect

The City of Vancouver is reminding residents that parking meters in Vancouver are still being monitored and that parking enforcement has not stopped as a result of the ongoing strike by the 2,800 members of CUPE Local 15.

The City is monitoring parking meters to ensure as many motorists as possible have opportunities to use street parking. As well, businesses throughout Vancouver need parking spots to turnover in order to enable their patrons to park.

Parking enforcement is also critical for public safety reasons. Especially during peak times, parking enforcement helps ensure that vehicles are not left in lanes where they may impede traffic flow or prevent access for emergency vehicles.

For these reasons, the City of Vancouver has deemed parking enforcement an important service to maintain during the strike.
