City Closes Streets on May 7
for Vancouver International Marathon
On the morning of Sunday, May 7, 2000, about 7,000 people will participate in the 29th annual Vancouver International Marathon. The run, which begins at 7 a.m., starts and finishes at the Plaza of Nations, and will affect vehicle traffic on Beach Avenue and Pacific Boulevard, Stanley Park, along West 2nd, 6th, and 4th Avenues, the Burrard Street Bridge in Vancouver.Except for the closures listed below, runners will be restricted to one lane and traffic will flow in the other lanes. Most runners will finish the course by 11 a.m.
THE FOLLOWING STREETS WILL BE CLOSED AT THE TIMES SHOWN:
0400 to 1300 Pacific Boulevard, from Cambie to Quebec
0630 to 0800 Quebec Street, from Pacific Boulevard to 2nd Avenue
0700 to 0800 2nd and 6th Avenues, from Quebec to Oak
0700 to 0800 4th Avenue, westbound from Oak to Pine
0700 to 1100 Beach Avenue, from Stanley Park gates to Davie
Beach Avenue, eastbound from Stanley Park to Jervis
0800 to 1200 Cornwall/Point Grey Road, westbound from Cypress to Alma
0730 to 1000 Thurlow, from Hastings to Pender
Hastings, from Burrard to Thurlow
