Community Visions Program Comes to
Victoria-Fraserview/Killarney and Sunset

The City of Vancouver will hold free public events in Victoria-Fraserview/Killarney and Sunset to launch the Community Visions program in these communities.

Residents are invited to learn more about the visioning process, and contribute ideas for the future of their community by attending either of the following weekend events:

Victoria-Fraserview/Killarney Visions Fair
February 26-27, 2000        11 a.m. - 5 p.m. each day
Killarney Community Centre
6260 Killarney Street

Sunset Visions Fair
March 11-12, 2000           11 a.m. - 5 p.m. each day
Sunset Community Centre
404 East 51st Avenue

The Community Visions Fairs will be of interest for the whole family. They will feature interactive displays by the City and local community groups, walking tours, children’s activities, a neighbourhood trivia contest, prize draws and free snacks. Residents will also have the opportunity to meet City staff.

A newsletter is being distributed in February to both communities with details on the Visions Fairs.

"The Community Visions program is based on the spirit of co-operation, working together to share ideas and solve problems. On behalf of your City Council, I am asking you to take some time over the next 18 months to participate in the Community Visions process," says Mayor Philip Owen. "Plan to attend the Visions Fair in your neighbourhood. We need your input."

CityPlan, Vancouver’s plan for the future, was approved by City Council in 1995.
The Community Visions program was launched in 1997 to bring CityPlan to the neighbourhood level. Kensington/Cedar Cottage and Dunbar were the pilot communities for this new approach to local planning. Now, Victoria-Fraserview/Killarney and Sunset residents are invited to participate in these next two Community Visions programs.
