Nominations closed at 4 p.m. today for positions on the November 16, 2002 ballot for general local elections in Vancouver. A total of 119 candidates filed nomination papers by the deadline.

On voting day, Vancouver residents will be asked to elect a Mayor, 10 Councillors, nine School Trustees and seven Park Board Commissioners for a three-year term (December 2002 to December 2005), and to vote on three Capital Plan questions.

This is not necessarily the final list of candidates that will appear on the ballot. Candidates may have their nomination challenged until 4 p.m. October 15, may have their endorsement by the elector organization withdrawn by 4 p.m. October 18, or may withdraw their nomination until 4 p.m. October 18.
