Residents invited to see what's in store for new 1 Kingsway community facility

An open house to present the latest design plans for 1 Kingsway, the new community facility planned for Mount Pleasant, will be held:

Tuesday, March 23, 2004
4 - 7 p.m. Drop-in and viewing of models and drawings
7 - 7:30 p.m. Architect's presentation
7:30 - 8:30 p.m. Questions and discussion

Kingsgate Mall, lower level
370 East Broadway

The new multi-service civic facility will feature a community centre, library, childcare centre, rental housing and underground parking.

Project architects Busby and Associates will be on hand to present drawings and models of the new civic facility, followed by a questions and discussion session. Pat Beaton, the artist who led the fence art project that surrounds the 1 Kingsway site, will also be in attendance to talk about the community art project.

This combined civic facility reflects Vancouver's CityPlan vision for developing neighbourhood centres that bring together multiple civic services. Principles of sustainability will guide the planning and design of this project to provide a safe and healthy building which makes efficient use of natural resources and leaves the best legacy for the citizens of Vancouver.

1 Kingsway is a joint project of the City of Vancouver, Vancouver Park Board and Vancouver Public Library.
