Public invited to discuss ideas for the future of Hastings Park and PNE

The City of Vancouver launches its community consultation about the future of Hastings Park and the Pacific National Exhibition this weekend with an Ideas Fair open house at the Agrodome in Hastings Park. This consultation process will build on previous work such as the 1997 Hastings Park Restoration Plan to help create a blueprint for the future of the site.

The Ideas Fair will bring together key stakeholders, neighbourhood groups and residents from across Vancouver to discuss ideas for the future of Hastings Park and the PNE.

Sunday, February 29
11 a.m. - 4 p.m.
Agrodome in Hastings Park

Everyone is welcome and encouraged to drop in any time between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Sunday. The Ideas Fair will provide an interactive way of generating ideas for the site, giving everyone a chance to participate. On-site illustrators will be recording ideas into drawings which will be on display for everyone to view and provide comments.

Based on the ideas generated at the Ideas Fair, a range of site scenarios will be developed. The public will be invited to comment on these scenarios, and based on that input, a shortlist of three to four final scenarios will be selected for detailed technical analysis and final comment by the public prior to being presented to City Council and the Park Board in late May.

Attention editors: For more information on the Hastings Park/PNE project, an eight-page backgrounder is available for download from the City of Vancouver's website.
