City closes streets for Vancouver Indy
This year’s Vancouver Indy race will be held July 23 - 25, 2004.
Vancouver residents and commuters should note road closures for the race
will be in effect July 21 - 26.
These closures are for the safety of the general public and those participating
in the race. Members of the public are urged to look for advance warning
signs of closures and detours.
Here is a list of road closures that will be in effect from Wednesday,
July 21 at 9 a.m. to Monday, July 26 at 10 p.m. (see map below ):
• Pacific Boulevard (from Griffiths Way to Quebec Street)
• Expo Boulevard (from Quebec Street to Griffiths Way)
• Abbott Street (from Keefer Street to Pacific Boulevard)
• Carrall Street (from Keefer Street to Pacific Boulevard)
• Union Street (from Main Street to Expo Boulevard)
• Quebec Street (from Keefer Street to 2nd Avenue)
• National Avenue (from Main Street to Quebec Street)
• Terminal Avenue (from Main Street to Quebec Street).
As indicated on the attached map, some of the road closures noted above
permit local traffic so that access is maintained for area businesses
and residents.
Please also note that the seaside walkway and bike route from the Plaza
of Nations to
1st Avenue will be closed from midnight Thursday, July 22 to midnight
Sunday, July 25
(watch for detour signing).
Sidewalks on the Georgia and Dunsmuir viaducts will be closed to pedestrians
during racing. The Downtown Historic Railway will run between Granville
Island and 1st Avenue at Columbia on Saturday and Sunday, from 8 a.m.
to 5 p.m.
