2nd Annual Creative City Conversation provides forum for dialogue and feedback on arts and cultureThe City of Vancouver provides the backdrop for open dialogue, exchange of ideas, and networking opportunities for Vancouver's creative community through the 2nd Annual Creative City Conversation:
The Creative City Conversation is a free event open to anyone interested in thought-provoking ideas and discussion around the role of creativity and art in building community. It follows on last year’s Creative Conversation Day during which nearly 500 people gathered for the City’s first forum on culture, creativity and community. The keynote speaker for the afternoon will be Allison Arieff, who writes the New York Times blog By Design, and is editor-at-large for Sunset magazine. Formerly, she was senior content lead for the design and innovation firm Ideo, and editor-in-chief of the architecture and design magazine Dwell. Ms. Arieff will speak about how arts and culture can be a vehicle to create more cohesive and healthy communities. Following the keynote speaker will be discussions and final feedback sessions on four important Creative City initiatives: the Grants Program Review, Cultural Tourism Strategy, Cultural Facilities Priorities Plan, and the Public Art Review. These initiatives are scheduled to go to City Council for approval in June. For details on the event and Creative City initiatives, visit the website: vancouver.ca/creativecity .
