About Us

Established in 1977, the EEO office works to support departments in meeting the goal of the City’s equal employment opportunity policy: to have a workforce that reflects the diversity of our community. While hiring is based on merit, the City is committed to ensuring that the selection process is fair and recognizes the value of including individuals from under-represented groups.

EEO reports directly to the City Manager’s Office, and works with Departments and City staff to ensure that the work environment is welcoming, respectful and free from harassment. EEO strives to find creative ways to prevent and resolve issues related to harassment, while maintaining an independent and confidential approach as far as possible. We encourage departments and individuals to contact us early when concerns do arise. Often, solutions can be found more readily when people work together, and tackle issues promptly.
