Recycling - Businesses and Commercial Properties
The City does not provide recycling collection services to business/commercial properties. Please check the yellow page under "Recycling" to contact a private waste disposal company for recycling collection service.
What Recycling Options are Available for Businesses and Commercial Properties?
- Metro Vancouver has business recycling advisors to discuss ways for businesses to recycle waste. Please contact them at 604.451.6575 or e-mail them at business_services@metrovancouver.org. You can also check their website: www.metrovancouver.org/smartsteps/Pages/default.aspx
- Businesses and institutions are responsible for hiring private waste disposal company for garbage collection. Perhaps contact your existing garbage hauler (most offer recycling services) and see what they can offer for recycling.
- If small amount of recyclable materials are generated (say less than a pickup truck a week), you may consider taking it to the City's Recycling Depot. There may also be other private recycling depots that would be closer and you can check their location by calling the RCBC Hotline (604.732.9253).
- For deposit beverage containers, you can return them to a depot or a retailer for recycling and a deposit refund. Please visit the Encorp website (www.encorp.ca) for more information.
- If you have questions about what to do with a particular material, the simplest way is to either call the Recycling Council of BC Hotline at 604.732.9253, visit their website at rcbc.bc.ca, or e-mail them at hotline@rcbc.bc.ca.
