City Greenway: Arbutus The Arbutus/11th Avenue Greenway links Kitsilano High School and Connaught Park with Lord Tennyson Elementary School from Vine to Maple Streets. The section of greenway from Vine to Arbutus Streets on 11th Avenue has been completed, and a pedestrian activated intersection installed at 11th Avenue and Arbutus Street. 11th Avenue/Arbutus Greenway ConstructionStarting in late June 2006, City crews will be constructing the greenway on 11th Avenue between Maple Street and 50 m to the west. This is on the site of the current closure. The duration of the street reconstruction work will be approximately 9 weeks, and the landscaping and street lighting work will be completed in the fall of 2006. The scope of work includes: During this period of construction, every effort will be made to minimize the impact of the work. We will try to maintain access to residences and businesses at all times, remove parking and vehicle restrictions as soon as possible and provide updates on the work as appropriate. History After consultation with owners and residents in the area, a temporary closure for the greenway at 11th Avenue and Maple Street was installed on November 15, 2004. This closure has undergone a 6 month review with the neighbourhood to determine whether it should be made permanent. On September 15, 2005 City Council approved the greenway closure.
