Keefer Street Overpass

Keefer Street Overpass GreenwayThe Keefer Street Overpass is an important direct connection for residents in Strathcona to Seymour Elementary School. Safety and ease of access is a concern, as the route must pass over a wide rail right-of-way. The community, concerned about the condition of the overpass and unwanted activities under the ramp at its east side, requested that it be rehabilitated and made safer. In 1994, the overpass was structurally improved and the area under the ramp was walled in. Large bushes, which contributed to the unsafe environment, were replaced Keefer Street Overpass Greenwaywith plantings that provided better visibility. The structure was painted and the community participated in a public art mural project conducted by a local artist working with students from the elementary school.
