Country lane project #2
Lane east of Maple St. from 5th Avenue to the dead end south
The design of the second lane calls for use of the honeycombed plastic mats as well as recycled concrete sidewalk and permeable pavers.
With the second "Country Lane", no driving strips would be formed as was done in the first "Country Lane". Instead plastic mats were used throughout and the "driving strips" were created by backfilling the plastic mats with aggregate where vehicles were expected to drive over.
Construction crews graded and cleared the existing width of the lane. They then prepared the sub-base using 3/4 inch aggregate or structural soil where grass or planting was expected. The plastic mat was then placed over the entire lane and backfilled with more aggregate or topsoil. To further create the rustic appearance, in between the cracks of the pavers and concrete, grass seeds were sown.
As an added touch, small granite boulders were aesthetically placed in planting areas along the east side of the lane to further enhance the lanes appearance.
