Country lane

Country lane project #3

Lane south of Yale Street from Slocan Street to Kaslo Street

The design of the third lane calls for use "Dry mix roller compacted concrete" driving strip combined with the use of honeycombed plastic mats. Unlike the other two lanes where concrete pavers or broken concrete were used as connectors, in this lane all connections were accomplished with the use of the plastic mats.

Once again construction crews graded and cleared the existing width of the lane in preparation for work. A small narrow trench was excavated for each driving strip and filled with "dry concrete" instead of regular "wet" concrete.

As was done in the second "country lane", construction crews prepared the sub-base using 3/4 inch aggregate or structural soil where planting was expected. The plastic mat was then laid out and connections to garages or parking areas were conducted before backfilling with more aggregate or topsoil.
