Trees
The installation of trees can only be petitioned adjacent to streets that are curbed. Planting trees along uncurbed streets have resulted in trees being damaged by vehicles.
The number of trees to be planted is subject to the length of the block and features such as utility poles or bus stops require that trees be located a minimum distance away.
The Parks Board determines the number of trees as well as the species of trees to be planted. The tree species is dependent upon the existing species in the area and what is available in the nurseries.
Scope of work

Improvement charges
Owners of properties adjacent the block are assessed for the installation of trees. The City does not contribute to this type of project. The cost for each project varies depending upon the location of the project. Area plans may require special tree surrounds or other special features that would add to the cost of the project. The costs can be paid in a lump sum or it can be carried over a 15 year period.
The amount each property owner contributes is based upon the assessable length of their property multiplied by the flat rates listed below. Usually the assessable length is the frontage length of the lot. However, there are lots that are unusual in shape and may be eligible for equitable adjustments. Please refer to Assessments for more detail.
