Stop Sign Program

In 2006, the City completed the Stop Sign Infill Program and all intersections have some assigned right-of-way or traffic control for one or more of the approaches to the intersection. With the completion of this program, there may be circumstances where a change in orientation or the addition of 4-way stops may be appropriate. Additional information for these circumstances is noted below.

For concerns about stop signs, please contact the City at 311.

Individual Intersections

2-way stops

The Stop sign infill program installed Stop signs at uncontrolled local street intersections within the City of Vancouver. If you notice an uncontrolled street intersection which may have been missed, please call 311.

4-way stops

Four way Stop signs are warranted when 5 or more correctable accidents occur per year. Volumes must be balanced, with 200 or more vehicles per hour on the lesser street. Another consideration for 4-way Stops is an average delay of 30 seconds or more to side street traffic.
