Hired Trucking/Haulage Services
Fall 2011 Leaf Pick-up Program

The Sanitation Branch of Engineering Services requires hired truck services for its Fall Leaf Pick-up program. Interested hired Truck Service Suppliers, with regular rate tandem trucks and trailer units, who were registered on Engineering’s approved list for Sewer, Waterworks and Streets Operations Branches, were invited to submit their interest in the leaf pick-up work. A lottery was held on October 18, 2011 to determine the order of selection for this program.

Some conditions of the selection are:

• The lottery determines the order in which the Sanitation Branch will select regular Truck Service Suppliers. Sanitation is currently expecting to need three regular hired Truck Service Suppliers for the program and will be contacting the Truck Service Suppliers in late-October through November as needed. Any additional Truck Service Suppliers required will be hired on a daily basis through the normal Request for Services process by the Sanitation Branch.
• Selected Truck Service Suppliers will be considered to be on the Sanitation Branch List temporarily for the duration of the Leaf Pick-up Program. Daily work is not assured by the City and actual work requests will be determined on a day by day basis, based on Branch requirements and performance of the services required.
• As the program winds down, the earlier chosen Truck Service Suppliers will be the first to be dropped off the Leaf Pick-up program.
• Truck Service Suppliers may be required to carry GPS units supplied by the City.

Twelve Truck Service Suppliers submitted their interest in providing services. Although only three Truck Service Suppliers are expected to be needed, twelve selection positions were determined by the lottery should additional regular services be required.
