Water damage to the City water system
On occasion, work undertaken by another utility, contractor or homeowner, can cause damage to the City's Waterworks infrastructure. If you think you have damaged City property during your construction or renovation project please call
immediately. They will likely dispatch a city crew to assess the damage and undertake any immediate repairs that may be necessary. We ask that you remain on site to meet the city crew and explain how the damage occurred.
When you call
please have the following information ready:
- What has been damaged
- Location of the damage including where it is (e.g. lane, back, front, easement, boulevard, sidewalk, ditch, etc).
- Your contact information including a name, address, phone number (company name, site contact name, billing information if applicable).
There will likely be a cost invoiced to the customer to cover the City's expense for making this repair. An invoice will be sent out once the repairs have been completed. The invoice will always have the name of a contact person who will be able to explain the charges in detail should there be any questions.
Invoices can be paid in person at Revenue Services, Main Floor City Hall, 453 West 12th Ave (at Cambie) or invoices can be mailed to: City of Vancouver, Revenue Services, PO Box 7747 Stn Terminal, Vancouver, BC V6B 8R1. Invoices alway contain a contact person's phone number.
