Water Main Flushing Program
Sediment and mineral build-up in the water main system needs to be periodically flushed out in order to maintain good water quality. This is done by adjusting the valves in the water system and opening fire hydrants to allow large quantities of water to flow through the pipes at high velocities.
During the period the water main in your block is flushed, your water may become cloudy. Cloudy water is not a health concern and can be cleared by running your cold water taps for approximately 10-20 minutes after the crew has finished flushing.
You may also experience low water pressure or no water pressure during the flushing. If you still have low water pressure or no water at the end of day of flushing please call
.
You will have received a notice from Waterworks alerting you to the times flushing is taking place in your area.
The 2012 Spring Flushing Program will run April 4th to July 4th, 2012.
Flushing of the downtown core will occur between May 23, 2012 to July 4, 2012. For this area only, crews will conduct the flushing at night between the hours of 8:30 PM to 7:00 AM, Monday to Thursday.
Please note: Your water will not be shut off for the main cleaning (flushing) program.
