June 2011

The Mayor's Four Pillars Coalition Meeting on June 23, 2011 focused on Homelessness, Mental Health and Addictions. A diverse panel of speakers facilitated by Dr. Patricia Daly, Chief Medical Health Officer, Vancouver Coastal Health, covered this broad theme sketching an individual's journey from homelessness to recovery. March 2011

The Mayor’s Four Pillars Coalition Meeting on March 7, 2011 focused on HIV/AIDS. Mayor Robertson had invited the BC Centre for Excellence in HIV/AIDS to present their most recent research in the field and to acknowledge their outstanding contribution to it. Drs. Julio Monater, Thomas Kerr and Kate Shannon presented their work on Treatment as Prevention, The Urban Health Research Initiative, and Gender and Sexual Health Initiative, respectively. October 2008
The Mayor’s Four Pillars Coalition Meeting on October 3, 2008 included a number of reports updating members on various projects related to the four pillars: the new Vancouver Community Court, the new Burnaby Centre for Mental Health and Addictions, the development of the 14 City-owned housing sites in Vancouver, the Mental Health Commission of Canada’s demonstration project and the Collaboration for Change. Participants also heard a recap of the constitutional issues related to the court case involving Insite and a keynote address by Bruce Alexander who just published the book, The Globalisation of Addiction: A Study in Poverty of Spirit.

March 2008
The March 26, 2008 Four Pillars Coalition meeting focused on the prevention pillar and featured information on the School Age Children and Youth (SACY) pilot program, the BC Council for Families' new tween parenting program and ActNow BC's Health Choices in Pregnancy program.

November 2007
The Four Pillars Coalition meeting of November 7, 2007 addressed issues related to InSite, the supervised injection site in Vancouver's Downtown Eastside, the Chronic Addiction Substitution Treatment (CAST) trials, Project Civil City and heard the Vancouver Police DepartmenMarch 26, 2008t's (VPD) perspective from VPD Chief Constable Jim Chu.

September 2006
More than 100 members of the Four Pillars Coalition met on September 28, 2006 at the Roundhouse Community Centre in Vancouver. They addressed a number of projects related to the Four Pillars Drug Strategy.

June 2005
On June 15, 2005, a meeting of Vancouver's Four Pillars Coalition was held to review and discuss Vancouver's Draft Prevention Plan. This meeting was the first step in the City's public review of the draft Prevention Plan.
