Drug Policy Program’s recent podcasts

The City of Vancouver's Drug Policy Program (DPP) started posting podcasts on its website earlier this year. Recently, it has posted a number of new podcasts:

  • September: A wet shelter in Toronto; an overdose prevention program in Toronto.
  • October: An update on Toronto’s drug strategy; Civil City Commissioner Geoff Plant on Vancouver’s Collaboration for Change; a discussion with Larry Colbourne, one of the men hired by the City of Vancouver’s after he participated in the City’s supported employment program.
  • November: Mayor Sam Sullivan’s reflections on his term as mayor; the 10th anniversary of the Vancouver Area Network of Drug Users (VANDU).
  • December: A student with the School Age Children and Youth (SACY) prevention program talks about her involvement with SACY.
  • January: The first year of operation at Onsite, the detox and transitional housing facility located above Insite; The Crossing at Keremeos, BC’s first residential treatment facility for youth.

Podcasts are available on the site for immediate listening. Website users may also subscribe (for free) to the podcasts so that they’ll be automatically downloaded to users iTunes account.

Podcasts are regularly scheduled audio pieces that are posted on the web. The term “podcast” was created by combining parts of the words “iPod”, Apple’s version of the personal audio MP3 listening device, and “broadcast”.

New DPP podcasts are added to the site every second Thursday.
