It's Your City, Your Taxes, Your Budget
Get involved in the 2010 Operating Budget! We want your opinion on how we can prioritize services and keep property taxes down. Come out to one of several community consultations. It's your chance to learn more, ask questions and offer your ideas to Mayor and Council.
Your property taxes help make Vancouver one of the most livable cities in the world. More than 60% of the City’s operating budget is funded by property taxes, which help the City provide the important services that are part of our everyday lives -- our well-maintained streets, green parks, libraries, community centres, and police and fire departments.
Just like with your household budget, the City of Vancouver has to make sure there’s enough revenue to pay for everything. We’re working to find a balance between keeping any property tax increase as low as possible with maintaining and improving the services and facilities our residents and businesses want and count on.
Have your say
Share your thoughts on the budget and on municipal electoral reform such as council term limits, candidate and party spending limits and the business vote.
