Get up to $60,000 in incentives!

This program will identify your top energy saving opportunities and calculate the payback. It will coordinate utility incentives, secure financing and coordinate all the work for the retrofit. It will ensure that the energy savings exceed the monthly loan repayment so that there is not additional costs each month.

The measures

Based on the specific building, appropriate measures will be selected from the list below:

Heating and water measures
  • fireplace and hot water metering
  • controls for common area heating
  • rooftop solar hot water system
  • low flow toilets
  • in-suite water saving devices
Building systems
  • automated adjustments for common area ventilation
  • five electric vehicle plug-ins
  • efficient lighting for parkades and hallways
  • LED exit signs

The incentives

This program will coordinate the maximum combination of incentives available for your particular retrofit. You can expect between $10,000 and $60,000 in incentives depending on the measures selected for your building. Here are some examples:

  • $15,000 for lighting upgrades from BC Hydro
  • $20,000 for solar hot water system
  • $15,000 for five electric vehicle charging stations
  • $10,000 towards engineering design and installation costs

The financing

Participating strata owners can expect to save approximately 5% on their strata fees during loan repayment and 15% after repayment is complete.

Your building will have the option to either pay for the improvements from your operating budget or contingency fund - or - to take advantage of a secured low interest loan. Loan amount will be for the total sum of the retrofits minus any incentives.

Interest rate: 4% fixed for 10 years

Length repayment: will be calculated based on your energy savings. The loan repayment period will typically last between five to ten years depending on the measures selected and the calculated energy savings.
