Creative City
The challenges of creating a sustainable economy and a sustainable society — making Vancouver a green capital — will demand all the imagination, innovation and creativity we can bring. Fortunately, Vancouver has a thriving creative community, including 8,000 working artists and countless creative professionals: software developers, designers, architects, writers, and engineers in research and development.
The City devotes a great deal of time and money to developing Vancouver as a creative city of ideas. We fund an extensive program of public art and during the 2010 Winter Games, showcased local creativity in art installations.
