Greenest City services
The City of Vancouver is one of the leading cities in North America acting to address climate change. Over the years, it has been dedicated to becoming more environmentally-responsible by incorporating sustainability into all its City operations as well as City services.
Find out more, below, about what we are doing to make Vancouver become the greenest city through our green programs as well as City services, tips and initiatives:
- Sustainability - Focusing on climate protection, green building and bringing sustainability to all aspects of running and building the city.
- EcoDensity - Building communities that are green, livable and affordable.
- One Day - Providing residents with resources and information to reduce energy use and make Vancouver the greenest city in the world.
- Green Homes Program - Addressing energy and water efficiency issues by requiring that all new building permit applications for one- and two-family homes meet a specific set of requirements.
- Transportation - Promoting sustainable transportation choices.
- Green Streets - Highlighting opportunities to volunteer as a street gardener in your neighbourhood.
- Keep Vancouver Spectacular - Annual city-wide cleanup program where residents and businesses volunteer to remove litter from Vancouver's streets, lanes and shorelines.
