About Us
The Hastings Institute has provided leadership in the areas of diversity, equity, literacy and respectful workplaces for over 15 years. First established in 1989, successive City Councils have continued to support The Hastings Institute and its work in addressing issues of multiculturalism and diversity, and contributing to inclusive communities and workplaces.
Our initial flagship program was the highly acclaimed "Kingswood" cultural diversity training for managers, which we delivered until 1995. Clients included provincial government ministries, crown corporations, and municipalities. Today, The Hastings Institute provides training and consulting to a wide variety of clients, not only those in the public service. Current services have been built on the success of "Kingswood" and have evolved to reflect today's realities and needs.
Working out of the City of Vancouver's Equal Employment Opportunity Program (established in 1977) provides us with first-hand experience in the issues and challenges faced by staff and managers today, including what kinds of strategies and interventions are most effective.
Thank you for your interest in The Hastings Institute and we encourage you to find out more about our services.
