Rhonda L. Margolis - Consultant

Rhonda Margolis is the principal of RLM Learning Innovations, a consulting firm that specializes in the design and delivery of corporate education programs across Canada. A widely respected facilitation and intercultural expert, Rhonda is highly regarded for her contributions in the areas of diversity and multicultural team building, bridging cultural differences, fostering respectful workplaces and leadership development. She is the co-developer of Living Leadership, a leadership program designed for leaders of a large financial institution. As an Associate of SFU’s Dialogue Programs Rhonda facilitated the planning and implementation of a series of community-based multicultural dialogues throughout BC. She is a founding member of the instructional team in UBC’s Certificate in Intercultural Studies, where she has taught since the program inception in 1996. Rhonda has a Doctorate in Educational Leadership and Policy and a Masters of Arts in Counselling Psychology, specializing in cross-cultural counselling. She is a Certified Executive Coach, offering inspirational coaching to mid-career professionals.

Richard Singer - Consultant

Richard Singer, principal of Singer Consulting, is a skilled and experienced mediator, facilitator, team builder, and trainer with over fifteen years of experience working in the areas of dispute resolution, training and development, and Respectful Workplace. In his mediation practice, Richard has conducted mediations around workplace conflict and harassment. His workplace practice also includes climate audits and harassment investigations. Richard holds a Masters' Degree in Counselling Psychology from the University of B.C., a Certificate in Conflict Resolution from the Justice Institute of B.C., and a teaching certificate through the Professional Development Program at Simon Fraser University. As well, Richard has received certification as a Family Relations Mediator through Family Mediation Canada. Currently, Richard is a Manager of Training with the Dispute Resolution Practicum Society of BC.

Eric D. Wong - Consultant

For more than fifteen years, Eric Wong has worked in the field of human rights and diversity. Eric was the Multicultural Education Consultant for the Vancouver School Board from 1985 - 1988. He began work with the City of Vancouver in 1989 first as a trainer in the Equal Employment Opportunity Program and then later as the Manager of Training and Programs with The Hastings Institute from 1990 - 1994, and currently continues that relationship in a consulting capacity. Since 1995 Eric has been the principal of Eric D. Wong Consulting, developing and delivering training and educational programs in human rights and diversity for a variety of organizations. As an educator in diversity and human rights, Eric has worked for a wide variety of organizations, including Vancouver Police Department, Canadian Auto Workers' Union, Canada Department of Justice and B.C. Workers' Compensation Board (now Worksafe BC), and is currently on contract with the First Nations Education Steering Committee in B.C. as the Anti-Racism Coordinator.

Steven Boorne - Consultant

Steven is a lawyer, speaker and trainer with more than 15 years of experience in the areas of employment and labour law.  Prior to relocating to B.C. from Ontario in 2006, he headed his own practice advising and representing government on workplace related legal issues such as employee discipline, workplace investigations, health and safety, and human rights.  Steven has extensive experience working with municipal police and fire departments providing risk management training, specialized employment advice and appearing as counsel before various labour tribunals and in all levels of Court.  Steven was called to the Bar of Ontario in 1994 and is a practicing member of the Law Society of B.C.

Natasha Aruliah - Consultant

Natasha is a Counselling Psychologist, facilitator, educator and consultant, specializing in diversity, equity, social justice and intercultural competence, both in Canada and internationally. Recognised as a skilled facilitator, extremely knowledgeable and passionate, she has worked with in many sectors, i.e. education, healthcare, public sector and community services, on both short and long-term initiatives to create inclusive and diverse workplaces and organisational change.  Working with diverse groups, such as ‘at risk’ youth, senior managers in government ministries, healthcare professional, scientists and researchers etc, she creates workshops that are relevant to the group and context.  She has been a keynote speaker and presented at professional conferences, including the Canadian Race Relation Foundation Symposium (2010) and SIETAR USA and Europa (2010).

Natasha is also on faculty at UBC’s Centre for Intercultural Communication and the Justice Institute of B.C. where she designs and delivers a variety of courses from Inclusive Leadership and Intercultural teams to Diversity and Trauma.

Rebecca Frame – Consultant

Rebecca Frame has worked for many years as a private consultant, specializing in harassment prevention, conflict resolution, employment equity and diversity. Rebecca has broad experience in the health, social service, program administration, and training fields with the private sector and federal, provincial, non-profit and community organizations.  Frame & Associates also offers online respectful workplace and diversity training for the Canadian workplace.  These programs offer a flexible and cost effective alternative to in-person sessions, as each employee can undergo training individually as time and workload permits. Rebecca has a degree in Psychology and a Bachelor of Social Work, both from UBC.

Catherine McCreary – Consultant

Catherine McCreary is a lawyer who has worked for more than 25 years in the field of labour relations in both BC and Alberta.  She worked with the labour law firm of McGown Johnson in Calgary and as in-house counsel at Teamsters Local 213 in Vancouver.  She also brings experience as an adjudicator both as a Vice-Chair of the BC Labour Relations Board and as a private arbitrator.  She has investigated a number of matters involving alleged human rights violations and workplace misconduct and has demonstrated a talent to efficiently resolve complex issues and implement creative solutions.  Catherine has presented seminars on both human rights and labour relations matters, and was a previous Board member at Vancity.

W. Anita Braha – Consultant

Anita Braha is a lawyer who focuses on human rights, equality, labour and employment issues. Based in British Columbia, Ms. Braha is called to the bar in Ontario and BC. She works with clients to develop respectful workplaces that are in accordance with human rights obligations and sound labour and employment practices.  Anita has practiced law since 1988, principally in the human rights area, and currently serves on the Board of Directors at Vancity.

Anne Nickerson - Executive Director

As the Executive Director, Anne oversees all of the services provided by The Hastings Institute.  She liaises directly with clients from start to finish and works closely with the selected consultant to tailor services to best meet their unique needs.  Anne is also a Director for the City of Vancouver's Equal Employment Opportunity Program (EEO), providing a wide range of services to employees and managers on issues related to human rights, diversity, equity, access and inclusion.  Anne has many years of experience in the field of Human Resources, both as a generalist and Manager, and is a Certified Human Resource Professional (CHRP). She holds a Bachelor of Social Work degree from U.B.C. and a Certificate in Conflict Resolution from The Justice Institute of B.C. Most recently, Anne completed her Instructor Development Certificate and graduated from the Leadership Vancouver Program.
